The Racoon and The Sycamore

Do you feel like sometimes your curiosity is pulling you in too many directions?  I know for myself the thirst to learn something new and to create more content for my blog in teaching Reiki and offering readings, can  sometimes get crazy!! So today was one of those days. I told myself to just settle within and pull a card to see what the message for me was. I also opened my crystal chest and closed my eyes and grabbed a crystal that was resonating with my energy today. I pulled the green tourmaline which is a crystal I use in healing the heart chakra. It’s a stone of unconditional love and acceptance and boy was I needing that today. So I placed the crystal on my chest and took three deep cleansing breaths and shuffled my cards. Now my cards call to me sometimes falling out of the deck and sometimes literally flying out of the deck. This one kinda up ended itself poking facing upward toward the sky. So I knew it was the one. Lo and behold I pulled the raccoon and the sycamore card. The card of curiosity. And how could I have missed right?! It was exactly where my heart and mind were going today. I had so much I wanted to do and to create and read up on because today was one of those days for me that was full of creativity and curiosity. Sometimes these things can just go haywire. So I sat with my card and my crystal on my chest and felt such unconditional acceptance for myself. That it was really ok to have days like this and rather to talk down to myself about feeling scattered I raised my vibration with love and understanding and honored the woman within that has such a thirst for knowledge and a creative and competent spirit. One of ingenuity and entrepreneurial wisdom.

If you are a creative sort and you have days like this. The card reminds us that curiosity is never a bad thing but a character to be admired within oneself and others. And my green tourmaline was my reminder for today to love all the parts of me. Not just the organized parts.
I hope you enjoyed this reading.

The problem I have with over publicization of The Salem Witch trials at this time of year!

Witches,
I was reading an article this morning from the Witches Voice, and it really got me to thinking how myths are just that, and how we sensationalize and popularize such things that should be corrected in history and not cashed in on it. The full article from The Witches Voice can be seen here.

https://www.nshoremag.com/faces-places/salem-witch-trials-exhibit-brings-the-past-into-the-present-at-the-peabody-essex-museum/?fbclid=IwAR0MydrG_OQYxbGX4G6BFMcz9s16ea1BF-qgyasFyJhhVsT514inW30fIg0

Now most things I have read from The Witches Voice have been quite informative and educational, and I guess you could say this is not any different, as all history is good history. However it still gets my hackles up for reasons that have nothing to do and everything to do with the Salem Witch trials.
My diagnosis of such things may be what a lot of Witches think, but don't want to voice, so let me voice it for you.
I have a problem with the entire premise of names having to be cleared. What is so wrong with being called a Witch? I'm proud of it. And more than that, if anyone truly understood what being a Witch meant, then you wouldn't be looking at it in such a negative connotation. To this day I am still shocked when I see these types of articles being put out there. Yes it was history and yes it happened.
But we are missing the bigger picture here, that we are still of the mindset that we need to clear someone of the name Witch?!! Again, I ask you, why? If we continue to allow the word Witch to hold malevolent meanings, then we are doing such an injustice to the real Witches of the world, that are proud to hold that title. Salem Witch trials was a sham in a time when they were afraid of their own shadows if it wasn't God based.
So to sit here and read this and even feel it is fascinating is beyond my comprehension. It's a joke, that's what it is, and it is still being brought into present times as such. As I will continue to say, all history is good history, agreed. But we can also right the wrongs of history by speaking up as Witches when we read such words that perpetuate being a Witch as something bad.  Now don't get me wrong, I love Salem Mass, I love the feel and the mystique and the folklore, what I don't love is the sensationalism, the psychics on every corner who are not psychics at all, they are cashing in on a dime what has been popular over the years. Quite frankly I never go to Salem at Samhain, and I never will. This is not what being a Witch is all about. This is what Charmed is all about and Hocus Pocus is all about. Being a Witch has now been brought down to a level that if we don't have a store front, we are not a real Witch. Of course that is a load of malarkey, because real Witches normally do not like being in  the public eye. They don't like to bring sensationalism being brought into their little corner of the world. That is called popularization, that is not called being a Witch or practicing Witchcraft.
I am none of those things, and I feel it is time that the real Witches of this world, stand up and say being called a Witch is not only an honor but a birthright. I don't believe you can learn to be a Witch, you either have the gift or you do not. You either feel it or you don't, you either live it or you don't. To me being a Witch is not something you put on, it's not a cloak you adorn, it's not a book you read. It is there, it's always been there, whether you ever have realized it or not. I don't believe all of this capitalizing on Witch schools is proper. To be a Witch, to be a teacher is to pass down all of this information, but we all have to make a buck and I guess that is where most of this sensationalism comes into play.  So if that has to be our present day as Witches, to enlighten the world as to who we really are, and what we really offer as our sacred space in this world, then fine, we do what we have to do. But I caution you, do it well, and be vigilante about what you say and what you read, we still need to write the wrongs and articles such as this, that perpetuate the negative connotation of what being called a Witch really means.  There is just so much wrong with this article. And I for one am not going to just read it and coin it as fascinating. Because to me, it is abhorrent and obscene the way this keep resurfacing time and time again around Samhain.
We deserve better!

Until next time

Card pulls from The Cosmic Creatures Oracle Deck 10/9/23

The Snake and The Panther

Good Morning Witches,

Card pulls for October 9, 2023

From: The Cosmic Creatures Oracle Deck

Snake

When the snake slithers into your awareness, you are being transformed, shedding old skin, sloughing old layers of yourself that no longer fit this bigger and brighter version of you.  Change is a catalyst for growth, and you are no stranger to challenges that have morphed your beliefs and the way you move in the world.  The snake reveals to you that having control is an illusion and the only sense of control lies within.  Your poser is ready to be reclaimed! Kundalini energy is said to be like the snake, coiled at the root of your spine, and when activated, it shoots up the column of vertebrae, awakening the body to the source of your higher power. The snake gives you the energy to heal, to rest, and to stay low as you integrate this  process into your everyday life. Ground yourself to remind you of your connection to the Earth, as the snakes guides you toward your spiritual awakening.

Panther

Independence, Power, Sensuality.

A fierce guardian of the void, the panther is a majestic symbol of beauty, grace and power. The panther always waits for the right time to make it's move, silently pouncing on its prey with deadly accuracy.  A creature of the darkness, the panther guides us when we are ready to explore the mysteries of the unknown, a place of both creation and destruction, death and rebirth.  With knowledge comes power, as you explore the deepest depths of yourself, encounter the shadows and allow them to release their hold over you.  Have the courage to claim your strengths and harness the darkness inside of you! The panther is a strong sign that you have everything you need to make your dreams come true and the finesse to do it on your own terms.

A Mindful Meditation To Tap Into The Authentic You.

A mindful meditation to tap into the authentic you.

1. Light a candle

2. Put on some meditation music that speaks to you

3. Light an incense of your choice

4. Find a comfortable space to sit or to lie down

Now go back to a time or in present time even when you felt like you were the King of Cups and your life was surrounded by The Two of Cups.  Meaning, that it was complete, you felt respected, loved and whole.  As you do this, feel from your head to toe a newness and a feeling of light and complete wholeness.  Envision in your minds eye from the root chakra all the way to the crown chakra your lights beginning to turn back on and to glow.

Root - Light the red

Sacral - Light the orange

Solar Plexus - Light the yellow

Heart Chakra - Light the green

Throat Chakra - Light the blue

Third Eye Chakra - Light the indigo

Crown Chakra - Light the white

In this moment your whole being is now aglow. It is healed, loved, whole and alive. Remember this feeling that you, yourself have harnessed on your own with this meditation. You did this on your own, without anyone or anything new. Not a new job, a new friend, a new relationship or a new purchase. No new anything, just you!! I want you to simply understand that if you possess these feelings, that you can manifest for yourself any time you need with this simple meditation that taps into your authenticity and divinity. This is already and authentically inside of you. Nothing and no one can sustainably give this o you, because you already possess this inside just by the very nature of your divinity.

Until next time Witches, I hope you have a wonderful day, full of magick and whimsy!

The King Of Cups and The Two Of Cups

 Good Morning Witches!

It is Tuesday, October 3, 2023 and I wanted to begin this mornings blog with a thought on The Season of the Witch and then get into a mindful intuitive tarot reading. I want to pose the question to all the Witches out there. Does your mindset and your calling feel stronger at this time of year, or is the same? Please leave a comment below or if you want to anonymously answer you can email me at: thewitchnextdoor1@gmail.com and we can chat about it.

Now onto Tarot.

Let me preface this by saying The Rider Waite Tarot Deck is one of my most favorite decks. The Radiant Rider Waite Tarot Deck is amazing. The colors on it are simply beautiful and if you are an intuitive reader such as myself, you will see the imagery just pops out at you.

Before the reading, I've lite Nag Champa as incense of the day.

Nag Champa is a sacred incense that purifies any environment, energetically transforming your space into a meditation room, naturally clearing out any negative energy and filling it with positive vibrations, and I wanted to start off this reading in both clarity and cleansing the room. I have also used a selenite wand to cleanse the spaces around me.

It was quite interesting to me that I pulled dual cards today.  Both of them fell out of my deck in different placements but fell at the same time. I pulled The King of Cups and The Two of Cups.

The cards remind us, that often times we search for something or someone in our lives to fill up the missing link, or the relationship that doesn't feel fulfilling, or we buy the shiny new toy, or get that new job.  We are feeling unhappy and we naturally think something or someone will take that unhappiness away. And sure it will, but only for a while.  We have all done it, if we are  honest with ourselves, and we are human we know we have done this.  I am not going to make this post about gratefulness, even though of course that is the cornerstone of a happy life, but there are far too many posts out there and content being created on that subject.  I want to go deeper. I want to talk about the forces in our lives, that sometimes lead us to a place of unhappiness and self-destruction.  In all of the world, as humans we want to feel connected, to feel whole, oved and worthy and most of all cared about.  That takes on different meanings to different people.  It coud be that you don't feel appreciated in your job, or is it your friendship, family or your relationship?  Think back now.  How does this make you feel?  Well of course it makes you feel less than you were ever put on earth to feel. You are confused, you are feeling unhappy and you want it all to just stop, right?  Now think back again, further into a time when or even in present day when someone or something that takes all of that emptiness and you feel like the authentic you. The world just fits.  Now in this moment, how much of that still feels new? How much of that new job, or that new person or that new purchase or that new anything is still making you feel that elated? I am sure there will be a small percentage of people that say, "yes, that was all that I needed and now I am complete, I am whole, I am good."  I am channeling for the ones that do not feel like this any longer. That the newness of the new has run it's course and once again you are left with feeling ungrateful and unhappy and most of all not whole.

This is where my reading is taking us.

So... If you could harness that feeling not so much in another person, or a place or a thing, would you give it a try? because I am here to tell you that it is  not a person, it is not a place, it is not a feeling that comes from any external forces to any degree.

The King of Cups and The Two of Cups signifies human connection. I challenge you to find that human connection within, and to harness all of that gold that you are.  Not that someone or something can bring to you and make you feel, but a time in your mind, in childhood, or teenage years, when you felt like you. Without all of the trappings we use as adults to make us feel good. It is still ALL there inside of you.  You just need to tap into it.

In the next blog, I will share with you a simple meditation to help you to achieve this.

Please feel free to share this reading!

Until next time Witches, I hope you  have a wonderful day full of magick and whimsy.

October's 2023 News Letter from The Witch Next Door

Blessed October Witches!

Welcome to my new blog, and I could not have started it on a better day! Oct 1st. We are now in the season of the Witch.  The most perfect time of the year for us.

I have some news to share about the new content that I will be including in our email newsletters, information on the new website and share a few bits about what to expect in the coming newsletters and blog.

So I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do on my new blog. I want it to be as diverse and as informative as I can possibly make it.  This will include some folk lore on paganism, some old fashioned witchcraft, spells, tea recipe's, and some good witchy talk on all things that mean so much to us living our witchy lives.

It is October, and for all of us, even though this is the season of the witch, every day for us is witch season.  If you live the talk, and walk the walk then your house is probably pretty much like mine. Full of candles, incense, oils, spell books, crystals, cauldrons, and so much more that makes us who we are.  We don't decorate just for Samhain, that is just our usual decor.  Or at least it is mine.

Check back every now and again to see the new content I will be adding.

Until next time Witches.
